Want to come to church?
Come along! Just turn up. You will be welcome.
Sunday 10.30 St Philips - Holy Communion (Songs, prayers and readings, and sharing bread and wine).
Thursday 12.30 St Philips - Holy Communion (Songs, prayers and readings, and sharing bread and wine).
'Each Christmas, I am again astonished at a God who is willing to risk so much to get close to ordinary human beings like you and me. He was born to earthly parents, who weren’t rich or privileged; he grew up in an occupied country and was even a refugee according to Matthew’s gospel. As Christians we always need to balance the awe and majesty of our creator God, with the immediacy and intimacy of a God who is close enough to touch. This Christmas, let us wonder anew at the reality of a God who is Emmanuel – God with us.’
We think St Philips is a great place to be, we are trying to be the centre of our community. We hold a community café every Monday morning along with a parents and toddlers group, knit and natter on a Tuesday evening. There is Keep Fit for over 50’s on a Thursday afternoon and a slimming club. We have run feeding the 5000 community feeds and regularly meals for the elderly. Our brownies meet at the nearby school but use the church for festivals e.g. Christingle. We hold services for local schools in our parish.
